June & the peonies.

Junio & las peonías.

The peony is one of our favorite flowers at home, it has always been
present at important moments, at family celebrations.

It is a May-June flower, which you can start finding at the end of April.

Their perfect “balls”, formed by layers of soft petals with their different shapes and shades, are of a delicate beauty, and when they open they become “another” flower, a messy and beautiful one that shows other shades and veins, and it must be because of those different faces that I never tire of photographing them and year after year I add thousands more photos to those already existing on my desk.

In auka this love for flowers and their colors, so difficult to transfer to a
fabric, translates into thousands of prints that roam freely throughout
our stores in the form of scarves, dresses, skirts or blouses, the color in
a constant in our own auka collection and in our selection of
product of the brands that accompany us.

In Eastern culture, the peony is a symbol of “wealth and honor” but also
They symbolize the beauty and union of marriage, and are also related to the
love at first sight or that infatuation between two people who have not yet met
know.

Giving peonies becomes a gesture of love and good wishes in life,
at auka we take note.

There are more than 30 different species of peony plants and their colors are usually
be white, pink and red in their different ranges that can go from a
coral to garnet.

Peonies arrived in Europe at the end of the 18th century, but a long time ago
They were already used in China for the medicinal properties attributed to them.
its roots. Peonies are believed to have anti-inflammatory properties,
antioxidants and analgesics, which makes them currently an option
popular for natural medicine.

But back to the flower itself, at home we like to put them in jars and
white ceramic containers like the one in the photo, a piece of
@luzioconceptstore, our neighbors in auka Barcelona, and in crystal glasses
old ones with engraved initials or borders. We usually use the leaves of the
own flower, to make bottles that we distribute around the house...and when they start to
wither we give them a second life by cutting the stem and placing them in
small bowls or low containers with water.

For those who know how to paint with watercolors, it is a flower with so many nuances that
I imagine it is a pleasure to outline it, I have never dared to do it but
I think this year I'll get out my brushes and go for it!

Here we leave you some photos of the last bouquet that we received as soon as we returned from
Indonesia came through our door.

This post is dedicated to Maria Bosser, florist, designer and author of
Prepared a song to life. In her presentation this past Tuesday, Maria
received a wonderful bouquet of peonies…and curiously spoke of the
watercolors and emotions, this post was written weeks before this
presentation and because of the topic and the coincidences I thought it could only be for
she.

With all our love for you, Maria.
